Annual Christmas Packing Party - Thursday, December 1, 2011

What do you want for Christmas?

My Christmas list consisted of everything from baseball gloves to hand sewn Christmas Stockings, lots and lots of beef jerky and plenty of Girl Scout cookies. I wanted drink packets by the dozens, toothpaste, toothbrushes and lots of candy. I wanted it all and I got my wish!

On Thursday, December 1, my Christmas wish was answered. I received not only everything I asked for, I was blessed to receive 2 1/2 tons of merchandise that will be going to many US bases around the world. I didn't even feel guilty asking for so much since it is all for our military so they may have a blessed Christmas so far from home.

That's right, I said 2 1/2 tons of goodies for our military. THANK YOU to everyone that donated items. THANK YOU to everyone that wrote Christmas cards and letters. THANK YOU to everyone that came out to pack boxes in a controlled chaotic environment. THANK YOU to my HOME Board that helped make all this possible. I hope you all had a great time, I know I sure did. The boxes that were packed are heading out the door as we speak. Everyday HOME will be shipping out boxes till they are all on their way to brighten a service member's day. Can you imagine what they will think when they see 10, 20 or 30 boxes show up at their living quarters? MERRY CHRISTMAS MILITARY!

More items are coming in BY THE TON! I think HOME may need to look for a bigger warehouse, anyone have an empty building that HOME could use? If you do I sure hope you contact me soon. We are a nonprofit and sure could use the space.

I deeply wish you all a Merry Christmas and the best possible New Year ever. Enjoy the video from the packing party and stay tuned because HOME will be preparing for the 3rd Annual Golf Tournament in May 2012.

Stay safe and thank you for your continued support.

Annual Christmas in July Packing Party - Thursday, July 14, 2011

"Christmas in July",,, hit it out of the ball park again. BAMM!! We had a great turnout on the 14th and had 244 boxes packed in one hour. (I need to hire these people to come pack up my storage unit).

Santa's little helpers were amazingly efficient and thorough. We started using the large flat rate boxes at the beginning of this year which allows us to add more items to the boxes, so I will be adding up the weight and let you know how many tons we are shipping as opposed to number of boxes being shipped. I will also add a few pictures to the HOME Face book site as well as the HOME website at www.helpourmilitaryendure.org so stay tuned, always more around the corner for HOME.

All the boxes are packed and back at the HOME office getting their labels and custom forms attached. The first fifty went out Monday.

But do not think things are done. As long as troops are deployed, HOME is working to get care packages into their hands. So we continue to collect items and donations of all kinds. We continue to verify the addresses we have and collect new ones. We continue to package and ship to our military serving. And we continue to ask for letters and cards filled out by you to add to the boxes. If you have some cards or letters filled out, send them to HOME, you have a donation for HOME send in to HOME, P.O. Box 57636, Webster, Texas 77598-7636.

Our next fundraiser benefit will be Sunday, September 18th from noon till 7:00 that evening. A benefit called HOME Awareness at Kemah Gardens Bed and Breakfast located in Kemah. Lots of food, drink and fun for all ages. We will have live entertainment, face painting, someone making balloon characters, information booths set up on how to start a donation drive at your school or church for HOME and information on the next Golf Tournament. Tickets will go on sale soon so save the date and plan to come out and have a great time.

Our military doesn't stop,,, HOME doesn't stop.

THANK YOU for your continued support to Help Our Military Endure.

2nd Annual HOME Golf Tournament - Friday, May 13, 2011

Lucky Friday 13th. The sun was shining. The birds were chirping and playing chase. The grass was green, freshly mowed and the golfers were smiling ear to ear as they had their pictures taken with Deshay and Rocio, the beautiful Hooters Calendar girls.

The 2nd annual HOME - Help Our Military Endure golf tournament was underway at Country Place Golf Course in Pearland, Texas to help support our troops throughout the world.

With the help of the ROTC Cadet Major Nathan Ramirez, Cadet Corporal Colton Tadlock, Cadet Corporal Alexis Montgomery, Cadet Corporal Brandy Ivy with Instructor: Sergeant Major Bruce Grant from Pearland High School to present the colors and 58 children from the 3rd grade choir under the direction of Glynis David from Cline Elementary School in Friendswood all stood at attention with their hand over their heart and listened to the adorable voices of the choir sing our NATIONAL ANTHEM. Does it get any better than this in America?

An absolutely beautiful and fun day was had by all. So many brought so much to the table that after a year of preparations and countless sleepless nights, the HOME board consisting of Doug Burton(vice president), Rick DeWitt(board chairman), Janet DeWitt(secretary), Jonathan Hughes(treasurer), KC and Poonam Chhipwadia (consultants), Ronnie Duhon(consultant), and yours truly Trudy Duhon(president) all could take a breather and relax. The golfers were at their tees.

With the help of numerous volunteers and donations that poured in throughout the past six months from items for our raffle tables to hole sponsorships and golf teams, our active military will be the true winners of this tournament. Every missed ball, every stroke of the putter, every ball that landed in the water or the woods was for our brave heroes that serve this amazing country so that we can go out every day and continue to do whatever we choose to do. We have the freedom of choice and with that comes responsibility. We have the freedom to choose a religion and a church to worship with, which job to apply for, what school to attend, even when and where to volunteer our time and services. The United States Military from ages past to present and even the future give us the freedom to make our own choices in life. We are the best nation on this earth and we have the choice to stay that way all due to those that have worn the uniform, are wearing the uniform, and those that will make the choice to wear the uniform of our nation. HOME and all our supporters THANK YOU!

With that said the victors of this years tournament are as follows:

1st Place: "Where's That Beer Girl"

  • Nick Thepsounanh
  • Young Yim
  • David Goodwin
  • Jose SanMiguel

2nd Place: "The 147th Reconnaissance Wing from Ellington Field"

3rd Place: "Are you happy to see me or is that a life support system in your pocket"
  • KC Chhipwadia
  • Jordan Metcalf

Congratulations to all, job well done!
