2009 Annual Christmas Packing Party - Wednesday, December 2, 2009

The HOME Packing Party on December 2, 2009 was a huge success! Many volunteers including high school students and children, enthusiastically participated in the creation of over 500 care packages to be shipped to our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. The event was a significant coordination effort involving personnel and organizations from NASA, United Space Alliance, Lockheed Martin, GHG, local businesses, area citizens - and even Santa Claus and his wife took time off from their busy schedule to lend a hand. For many weeks volunteers have been collecting edible goods, blankets, knit hats, cash donations, games, magazines, cards and letters, you name it - anything that might put a smile on a lonely soldier's face. Finally on this night, everyone gathered in what might be called a packing "frenzy." It was amazing to see so many boxes packed, labeled and wrapped in such a short period of time. A fantastic volunteer effort!!
